We had so much fun at the retrospectives on our 50-year festival history in 2024 that we decided to celebrate a little further at the current film festival – and to mark another 50th anniversary: Werner Herzog’s visit in 1975. To mark the occasion, film journalist Moritz Holfelder has created for us has put together a multimedia retrospective for us that approaches the prolific and idiosyncratic German director in a variety of ways.
Moritz Holfelder, born in 1958, studied journalism and art history at the LMU in Munich. Since 1985, he has worked as a cultural journalist for Bayerischer Rundfunk and is also the author of various books, including a “Cultural History of Motorcycling” (in dialog with John Berger), an illustrated book about the “Palace of the Republic” in East Berlin and a biography of Werner Herzog.
