The first Wuerzburg International Film Festival took place at the end of January 1974. The festival was therefore able to celebrate its 50th anniversary at the beginning of this year. To mark the occasion, the Filminitiative Wuerzburg e.V., the organization behind the Film Festival, put together an exhibition that took visitors on a fascinating journey through 50 years of festival history and over 100 years of cinema in Wuerzburg.
Good news for film fans: the elaborately designed exhibition, which consists of a large number of photos, posters, found objects and personal memories, will be repeated in the run-up to the 51st International Film Festival. For anyone who didn’t make it to the exhibition last January or would like to visit it again, there is now an opportunity: the exhibition will be shown again in the Upper Foyer of Wuerzburg Town Hall from December 11, 2024 to January 15, 2025. Mayor Christian Schuchardt will give a welcoming address at the vernissage on Wednesday, December 11 from 5.30 pm. The exhibition is open Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 6 pm and Friday from 8 am to 1.30 pm (except on public holidays).
