Workshops

In addition to the school screenings, the International Film Festival Wuerzburg 2025 offers two exclusive film seminars for school classes. Thanks to the cooperation with the educational program DOK.education of the Munich International Documentary Film Festival, your students will take part in a 90-minute workshop and watch an award-winning and age-appropriate short film on the big screen. While still in the movie theater, the students work in groups and under the guidance of film expert Maya Reichert on specific viewing tasks relating to the topic and style of the film. Children, teenagers and young adults are thus playfully enabled to decode the language of film and to deal critically with audiovisual media.

With the workshops ‘School of Seeing’ and an extensive year-round program of teacher training, online workshops and film projects, DOK.education reaches over 8000 pupils throughout Bavaria every year. At our festival, you can take the opportunity to attend the face-to-face events in Wuerzburg.

DOK.education, the educational program of DOK.fest Munich, sees itself as a “school of seeing” that combines media competence and cultural education. The aim is to convey the various media levels of truth and reality using the example of the documentary film narrative and to develop an initial understanding of the readability of artistic film narratives. The artistic narrative documentary film is particularly suitable for the acquisition of media competence, as it tells real stories in a dramaturgically designed form and cinematic images. DOK.education shows your students documentary films that tell stories from the lives of young people at eye level and with an artistic approach.
